Artist Bio

Hi I’m Si Ying (b. 11Sept, Singapore) and I love to paint – in fact, I’m obsessed with it! I have been making art ever since I can remember as a young child, spending weekends in community arts, and I spend every day trying to better myself as an Artist.

My paintings reflect something personal. I am drawn to vast natural landscapes in a realist style which I dubbed it as ‘experiential landscape’ art, a way to bring viewers the joy of experience that I felt while painting. In every painting I am striving to understand the laws of nature and how light works. My goal for every painting is to achieve a convincing sense of reality and break the constraints of the two dimensional surface.

I graduated from the Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a specialist diploma in NIEC Early Childhood Care and Education (2021) and had taken up courses on western painting in acrylic and oil painting from NAFA (2018). My passion to teach what I learnt and being around with children had led me to progress as an enrichment Art Teacher with young kids and finally as an Early Years Educator.

I now live and work in a small and bustling country called Singapore. I work as an Early Years Educator during the weekdays and live my life practising my techniques during weekends. While I am not painting on canvas, I enjoy working on stippling technique on black sketchbook.

During my free time, I enjoy dancing, weightlifting, yoga and walking with my Jack Russell breed dog.

” Keep working hard, keep making works, and keep exploring and being honest to what you’re interested in. The only way to do that is to cut out distraction and embrace deep thinking and deep work. “
